The Best Restaurants in Vagator, Goa
Don’t just come to Goa for the beaches, markets and parties – come for the food! Goa has an amazing and really varied food scene, you can get anything in Goa; from street food stalls to cheap seaside shacks with a million dollar view to stylish fine dining restaurants and cuisines from all over the world – you can really have it all in Goa.
As as eating out in Goa is so varied, delicious and good value (you won’t find many dishes for over 500 rupees that’s about £5 or $8 ) you are really spoilt for choice! I eat out at least once, often twice, a day, so I’ve built up quite a list of my favourite restaurants in Vagator and places to eat and hang out in North Goa.
The Best Beach Shacks in Vagator
The beaches of Goa are lined with beach shacks that serve a standard traveller orientated multi cuisine menu – serving up everything from Indian curries, Chinese dishes, noodles and rice, pizza and pasta, breakfasts and sandwiches usually for between 100 and 300 rupees and the quality of the food that comes out of these beach shacks, for relativity little money, is surprisingly good and I’ve never been sick from eating at a beach shack so don’t miss this essential Goan experience!
My favourite beach shacks in Vagator are:
Fishtail – Little Vagator Beach
In my opinion, Fishtail is the best shack in Goa. They have a great spot on Little Vagator Beach (just below 9 Bar) and a varied menu and lots of Indian and continental options. The staff are great, the wifi works pretty well and the food is good value. I eat here nearly every day and everything is good especially the Thali, the lasagne and the wraps.
Disco Valley – Little Vagator
Disco Valley is a nice place to chill at the parking end of Little Vagator Beach. I love the treehouse like booths, the music is usually pretty chilled and the menu is mainly Indian food.

Best Restaurants in Vagator, North Goa
Thalassa
The views over Vagator Beach at this Greek Restaurant are to die for and so are the fresh, crispy, so tasty salads, Greek mezes and starters and gyros. The restaurant is all white table cloths and white curtains billowing in the wind and it also has some rooms which are Greek themed and super cute. This is the place to be for sunset so if you want to be here too then call ahead to reserve your table.
Fusion
Fusion, near to Thalassa has a cute garden atmosphere and serves up delicious Mediterranean food, they do great pizzas, pastas and fresh salads but you must try the Fusion Thali – a platter of humus, baba ganoush and other dips and delights from the med but pizza is only served in the evenings.
Mango Tree
This popular place in the heart of Vagator has a varied menu and is usually a lively place to eat, hang out or watch the world go by.

Sri
Sri is a popular place on the Hilltop in Vagator with a cute atmosphere and a range of Indian and with many healthy and vegetarian choices and often has live music playing but it can be pricier than other places.
Bean Me Up – Vegan Restaurant
Bean Me Up near the Vagator Petrol Pump is heaven for Vegans, it has a healthy and imaginative menu and even for non vegans the food tastes fresh, healthy and delicious (even though I didn’t have a clue what half of the menu was!) They also have a hostel and guest house which gets rave reviews
Sita- Pure Veg Restaurant
For vegetarians Sita is a great pure veg Indian restaurant next to the Vagator Petrol pump that serves tasty curries and South Indian delicacies at a very reasonable price
Anand
Situated on the Anjuna to Siolim road Anand isn’t a fancy place but is popular with locals because of the delicious seafood, great Goan cuisine and great value for money. It’s best to just ask what is fresh or the catch of the day.
Best Restaurants in Chapora
Chapora is not so well known for it’s food scene but there a few places you should definitely check out when in Goa.
Scarlet Juice or Ganesh Juice Bar in Chapora are a super popular, cheap but tiny juice joints. Squeeze in and enjoy the bustle of the more authentic vibe of the slightly scruffy fisherman’s village of Chapora over a super fresh and tasty juice and also try the fruit salad with ice cream.
For Italian food in Chapora Roma Pizza is also good and Ciao Bella has amazing Italian food, homemade pasta and delicious appetizers but they only do pizzas on Saturdays.
If your looking for something different try Sakana a funky Japanese restaurant and it does great sushi and momos too.
