Vietnam Visa on Arrival for Indian Citizens

Most nationalities, including Indian Citizens are now eligible to get a Vietnamese Visa on Arrival (VOA) if you are arriving by air.

The price for a Vietnam visa for Indian citizens is $25 (for one month single entry or three month single entry) and goes up to $50 (for one month multiple entry or three month multiple entry) The visa fees are payable upon entry in cash in US Dollars.

However, to be eligible for the visa on arrival you must first obtain a Vietnam Visa Approval Letter before arriving in Vietnam. This will allow you to get a pre-approved visa on arrival. You must bring your visa approval letter with you to the airport to enable you to get your visa on arrival.

It takes 1-2 business days to process visa approval letter for the Vietnam visa for Indian citizens, however, make sure to leave ample time in case any problems arise and your visa application letter is delayed.

Some things to keep in mind when applying for a Vietnam visa is that your passport must have 6 months validity remaining on the passport prior to the date of travel, as well as an empty page. The maximum stay on a tourist Vietnam visa for Indian citizens is 3 months, while the maximum stay on a business visa for Indian citizens is 12 months.

(Remember, these steps below are ONLY for those traveling to Vietnam by air. If you are arriving overland you will need to apply for an EVisa which is explained later.)

Step 1: To get a Vietnam visa on arrival you will first need to obtain a Visa Approval Letter. You should use a trusted agent like iVisa to obtain your Vietnam Visa Approval Letter. Visit the website here and select whether you need single or multiple entry and choose between 30 days stay or 90 days stay and then fill out the Vietnamese visa form. You will need to make a processing payment from $20 (depending on the visa required) which you can do using a credit/debit card or with paypal.

Step 2: Wait for your Vietnamese visa approval letter, which will arrive in an email within 8 hours (unlike 1-2 working days with other agents) Make sure all of the information on the application is correct; any information that does not match your passport exactly (name, DOB) may prevent you from entering Vietnam.

Step 3: Print out the letter

Step 4: Get 2 passport sized photos (4 cm x 6 cm or 3 cm x 4 cm)

Step 5: Obtain American Dollars or Vietnamese Dong for stamping fees at the airport. The stamping fee starts around $25 (for one month single, three month single) and goes to $50 (one month multiple entry, three month multiple entry). If you are arriving on a business visa, the stamping fees range from $25-135.

Step 6: Bring the letter, passport sized photos, and dollars with you to the airport. You must leave at least one full blank page in your passport for the Vietnam visa.
