Giveaway! Win a Yoga Retreat to Celebrate International Yoga Day 2019!
The 21st June is International Yoga Day 2019! I’m excited about this day and celebrating because yoga has been a really positive force for transformation in my life – both in body, mind and soul and it’s now become one of my missions to spread the word about the transformative impact that yoga and travel can have.
One of the great things about traveling to India is that I really fell in love with yoga and meditation and both have become a huge and important part of my life. I did my yoga teacher training and I’ve been lucky enough to spend a lot of time doing yoga in yoga meccas like Goa in India, Koh Phangan in Thailand and also in Bali, Indonesia.
So I’m really excited that International Yoga Day 2019 is just around the corner and especially excited that BookYogaRetreats.com are even giving away an amazing yoga retreat holiday in either India, Greece and the USA – your choice! And, even if you aren’t lucky enough to win a yoga retreat, BookYogaRetreats are also offering special discounts for many incredible yoga retreats around the world if you book in June.

About International Yoga Day
This 21st June is the 5th International Yoga Day since the concept was introduced in 2015 and is recognised by the United Nations. International Yoga Day aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga – an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India and is now popular all over the world and has so many different variations.
The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means union and symbolises the union of body and consciousness and can have profound effects on body, mind, soul and spirit so it’s amazing that yoga is becoming so popular all around the world!
From the health and physical benefits of yoga like increased flexibility, improved fitness and weight loss to stress relief, increased happiness and mindfulness there are so many benefits from practicing yoga – both physically, emotionally and spiritually (read more here)
The theme for International Yoga Day 2019 is Climate Action. OK! I know a yoga session alone won’t save the planet, but by practicing yoga we connect more to our body, mind, soul, nature, each other and the whole world around us in a more conscious way. By practicing yoga, and raising awareness of both yoga and climate action, we can make steps to protect the environment of our beautiful planet and mother earth together.
Last year I was living in Koh Phangan for a few months and on International Yoga Day 2018 all the top yoga centres on the island had free classes, workshops and events all day – many even had free vegan lunch and prize draws. I had a crazy but amazing and fun day as I scootered all around the island to all the different yoga centers and managed to fit 7 yoga classes into 1 day – all for free! Best Day Ever!
Most of my friends and family who’ve come to visit me in Goa have gotten into yoga now as well as it’s amazing to see how yoga has transformed their lives and made them healthier in different ways too.
International Yoga Day is celebrated all over the world (see this page for yoga events happening in USA, UK, India and more) In 2018 one event saw 200,000 people join together for a yoga session, making it the world’s biggest yoga gathering!
In the past it was not so easy to find yoga retreats and difficult to know whether a yoga retreat was good. Traveling to an exotic location and attending a yoga retreat should be a relaxing, rejuvenating and revitalising experience but it’s also a big time and money investment and you need to know that you are going to a top quality yoga retreat to be well looked after on your retreat.
BookYogaRetreats.com lists top quality yoga retreats and yoga teacher trainings all across the world. You can search for the perfect yoga retreat for you and check out the style of yoga taught, instructors, get information and see photos of the accommodation, food and facilities and get to know the daily schedule there.
Most importantly you can check real reviews from people who have been there before, especially after what happened with Agama yoga school in Koh Phangan (even though when I was there nothing bad happened to me) and how #MeToo shook the yoga world, it’s more important than ever before to get reviews and recommendations and testimonies for yoga retreats and yoga teacher training courses and make sure you have an amazing yoga retreat experience for all the right reasons!
