Backpacking Southeast Asia: Our Video Diary

Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur - the long way round!: Our Backpacking Southeast Asia Video Diary

Backpacking Southeast Asia with Anna and Kevin

If you like to watch video rather than read then check out Kevin’s backpacking Southeast Asia video diary. This is Kevin’s video diary as he backpacks around Southeast Asia.

Kevin starts his adventure in Bangkok and travels through the north of Thailand and Laos alone before we met in Hanoi, Vietnam. We then travel together down through Vietnam and through Cambodia and then onto Bangkok again before island hopping through the south of Thailand and Malaysia to finish in Kuala Lumpur.

Check out Kevin’s blog – Vagabond Impulse for more videos of his adventures. Also, have a look at our video diary from our first trip to India in 2013.

Thailand – Arriving in Bangkok

I’ve just arrived in Bangkok for an adventure in South East Asia. This is the first few days of my trip.

Thailand – Ayutthaya and Sukhothai

Onward from Bangkok and I’m making my way to Chiang Mai and taking a couple of stops on the way to see the ancient ruins and temples of two very important historical cities at Ayutthaya and Sukhothai

Thailand – Chiang Mai

In this episode I ride into the mountains of Chiang Mai, see a ton of waterfalls, visit a night market, fire a gun for the first time ever, ride an ATV and go white water rafting. It was an interesting and fun packed visit to Chiang Mai.

Thailand – Chiang Rai and the slow boat to Laos

I’m in Chiang Rai and visiting one of the most unique and interesting temples I’ve come across. From here, I’m making my way into Laos and riding a 2 day slow boat down to Luang Prabang.

Laos – Vang Vieng

I’m now in another backpacker hotspot of Laos; Vang Vieng. Here I met some fantastic people, had some really great times and got myself into a bit of a situation whilst tubing on the river.

Vietnam, Hanoi – Catba Island (Halong Bay)

I’ve travelled from Vang Vieng in Laos to Hanoi in Vietnam on a 35 hour bus journey. I’ve met up with Anna (Global Gallivanting) and we see some of the sites in Hanoi which include the temple of the literature and the military museum, enjoy a night on the Bia Hoi and then make our way to Catba Island and take a boat trip out into Halong bay.

Vietnam – Getting lost near Ninh Binh

A highlight of our travels from a road trip into the National park where nothing goes as planned but we end up finding exactly what we were looking for.

Vietnam – Hoi An to Nha Trang

Hoi an is where we will be starting in this video for some sight seeing and then its on to Nha trang where we will be taking a little break from the traditional temple stompin’ (well almost) and hopping over to the 5 star resort island of Vin Pearl.

Vietnam – Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City)

We start off with a tour of the Independence Palace (Reunification Palace) which saw the end of the vietnamese war and then take a trip just a little outside of Saigon to explore some of the underground tunnels that played a large part for the vietcong.

Vietnam – Touring the Mekong Delta and Crossing the border into Cambodia

Leaving Vietnam and crossing the border into Cambodia via an “organised” three day tour up the Mekong Delta.

Cambodia – Phnom Penh, Kampot and Koh Rong

We’ve just arrived in Phnom Penh and we pay a visit to the infamous Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S 21) and one of Cambodia’s many killing fields (Choeung Ek). After this we head to Kampot and then to the small island of Koh Rong for a bit of a tropical beach getaway.
