The Best Holiday Cocktails (and where to drink them!)

The Best Holiday Cocktails

Nothing says ‘Holiday!’ more than relaxing with a delicious, exotic cocktail sipped in a famous ‘piazza’  with views over an iconic sight or city, or with your feet in the sand while watching a stunning sunset.

Even though I rarely drink alcohol nowadays since getting into yoga and healthy eating, I still love to check out the signature cocktails when I visit a place and still like to treat myself to my all time favourite cocktail –  a Pina Colada at sunset on a beach – it just tastes so tropical – its like the taste of being on holiday!

When I took my Mum to Singapore we went for Singapore Slings at the iconic Raffles Hotel and despite being on a budget in Venice I simply had to visit the iconic Harry’s Bar where the Bellini was invented. Drinking Spritz in Venice with the locals in Santa Margherita was also a really cool experience.

Many destinations have their own signature cocktail – you wouldn’t want to visit New York without sipping a Manhattan, a Mojito when visiting Cuba, try a Bellini in Venice, or leave Mexico without tasting a Margarita.

Other destinations have their own signature drinks that you may not have heard of before but are definitely worth trying – for example Thailand has recently introduced a new signature cocktail called the Siam Sunray – a mixture of fragrant kaffir lime leaves, tangy ginger and lemongrass, vodka, smooth coconut liquer and a hint of chilli. It’s a really unique drink with the distinctive taste of Thailand in a glass – try it if you’re in Thailand.

I was recently asked by Travel Republic to share some of my most famous holiday cocktail moments and top tips for the best bars to enjoy these iconic cocktails. They made it into a fun infographic about the best holiday cocktails and where to find them. There’s lots of tips from other top travel bloggers too – check it out for your next holiday cocktail inspiration.
