Highlights of India
India is such an amazingly diverse country which challenges and frustrates and rewards and surprises a visitor in equal measures. With so many surprises and magical experiences it is hard to pick 5 of my top experiences here are my highlights of India:
1. Love, Music and Colour
I was blessed and honoured to be invited to share a family’s celebration of their first wedding anniversary amongst the ancient temples in Khajuraho. The love, joy and colour of that evening will never leave me. A Beautiful Celebration.
2. Indian Wildlife
There are animals everywhere. Lounging cows, excitable goats, sweet stray dogs that are just desperate for a little attention, nonchalant camels, majestic elephants, wild boars, chipmunks and all kinds of birds and sea life.from cheeky monkeys, to wandering cows, to street dogs. Lush green Kerala is one of India’s most beautiful states. From cruising along the back waters to cool tea plantations and hill stations. Spending time with majestic and gentle elephants in Kerala was definitely a highlight. Incredible Elephants.
3. Romantic Udaipur
Taking a boat ride on the beautiful Lake Pichola in romantic Udaipur, seeing the sun glitter on the lake as we float past the famous lake palace hotel surrounded by the ochre hued Aravalli hills and watching beautiful sunsets overlooking the lake. See more at Udaipur – Shimmering Lakes and Romantic Palaces.
4. Manic Mumbai
Soaking up the crazyness of Mumbai, the buzz of an ambitious city and the sea of colourful saris amongst the colonial architecture. See my account of Culture Shock! My First Day in Mumbai.
5. The Spectacular Taj Mahal
My highly anticipated, first glance of gleaming marble of the ultimate monument to love, the Taj Mahal, rising ethereally out of the early morning mist did not fail to impress. Find out why the Taj Mahal lives up to the hype as the most beautiful building in the world.

6. Goan Beach Life
After the culture shock and hectic first weeks in India the laid back lifestyle on the Goan beaches was just bliss. If you get bored of taking it easy take a motorbike out to exploring the captivating Goan culture and old Portuguese churches just off the tropical beaches. See more in Goan Beach Life.

7. Sunrise on the Holy Ganges
Taking a boat ride at dawn along the holy Ganges river in Varanasi witnessing all rituals of life, death and religion taking place in a riot of colour and noise on the ghats. Experience Sunrise on the Holy Ganges.
