6 of the Best Luxury Holiday Destinations

Taking a holiday is the perfect excuse to pamper yourself and live the high life for a while. There are so many amazing places in the world to visit, so often its hard to choose your next holiday destination. If you are looking for the best luxurious holiday destinations here are some of my top picks.

The Best Luxury Holiday Destinations

Bali, Indonesia

Bali is known for its majestic villas, resorts, rice terraces and temples. It has forested volcanic mountains, coral reefs and pristine beaches. There are several places to spend time relaxing doing meditation and some of the world’s best yoga retreats and yoga teacher training programs.

There are hotels with pools that are beach front and many hotels offer traditional Balinese dance performances, walking and cycling tours. A few of the hotels are located in the jungles of Bali surrounded by rice paddy fields and stunning green hills.

Bali has many fine dining experiences and you will find meals that are prepared with rich herbs, and spices. Here are 10 of my favorite things to do in Bali and my recommendations of the best places to stay in Bali.

Crete, Greece

Greece is home to many beautiful and stylish villas, boutique hotels and private houses. Crete, however, is a particularly luxurious part of Greece, and there is plenty to see and do here.

There are fine sandy beaches, stunning mountain ranges, amazing yoga retreats and exciting archaeological sites like Ideon Cave, Heraklion Archaeological Museum and Palace of Knossos.

Crete is also known for its delicious cheese, brandy and locally grown lamb. It is a beautiful place to partake in water sports, trek or cycle through the mountains. You can see olive groves, vineyards and villages with stunning white houses. Here are some of my favourite things to do in Crete off the beach.

Tuscany, Italy

Tuscany is one of Italy’s most beautiful regions, and it is the perfect place for a luxurious holiday or yoga retreat where you can stay in boutique hotels, luxurious villas and cottages on farmlands with olive groves and vineyards within walking distance.

Tuscan cuisine is primarily made from bread, cheese, vegetables, fresh fruit, locally grown meat, and mushrooms. There is also plenty of locally made wine to sample.

Don’t forget to visit the famous cities of Florence, a renaissance city known for its art and architecture, and Pisa for the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa and of course Rome, the eternal city, and romantic and unique Venice.

Yangtze River, China

A cruise along the Yangtze River in China is another great way to spend a luxurious holiday. The River travels through the historic Yunnan province and it is one of the longest waterways in the world. Whilst on your cruise you can get comfortable on the deck and see the stunning Three Gorges and the Three Gorges Dam.

You can also visit the villages to experience the local flavours, explore historic sites and gain some insight into this 5,000 year old civilization. Each night you can watch the beautiful sunset with a stunning backdrop before indulging in a fine meal onboard the ship

Havana, Cuba

Havana is a bustling city that is known for its museums, forts and lively public squares, take a tour and discover hidden treasures whilst finding out about the history of the area. There are exquisite cafes and bohemian themed bars where you can people watch.

Havana’s old town, called Habana Vieja, is known for its magnificent Baroque styled Catedral de San Cristobal, and the military fortress of Castillo de la Real Fuerza. Rent a classic car and tour the area with a chauffeur to experience true luxury.

Bhutan

Bhutan rests in the Himalayas and its pristine beauty will astound travellers that visit this area. There are many great treks for people who are looking for an adventure and Jomolhari Peak and Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek are two of the most popular.

There are many Buddhist monasteries and fortresses built on few of these mountains and once you climb through these you can see a bird’s eye view of the nature that surrounds them. There are many luxurious accommodations available, some of which overlook stunning green valleys.

Bhutan has great food and you will find meals with vegetarian food and expertly cooked meat to choose from and unlike some other popular destinations is blissfully uncrowded and hardly discovered by tourists.
