My Pick of The 5 Best Yoga Retreats in Ubud, Bali for 2022
When most people think of Bali, they start to imagine the tropical golden sand beaches lined with coconut palms, frequented by golden surfers and bikini babes and of course healthy and luxurious yoga retreats in Ubud with views over the luscious green paddy fields.
Ubud is one of the world’s ‘yoga and healing meccas,’ a small village tucked away inland on the island, surrounded by lush tropical jungle, rice terraces and sacred mountains in the distant horizon. Ubud was for many years home to a number of hippie/artist expats, however, in more recent years has rapidly become a hub for yoga, meditation and living healthier lifestyles, especially after the popularity of ‘Eat Pray Love’.

No mention of yoga retreats in Ubud would be complete without The Yoga Barn, one of the most famous Ubud yoga centers located on the outskirts of Ubud, in a peaceful spot close by the sacred monkey forest.
The Yoga Barn offers different yoga retreats hosted by a variety of teachers as well as a huge multitude of healing modalities and drop in yoga classes in an assortment of styles to suit any level of practice. There’s also a popular cafe and regular ecstatic dance parties that are held here.
I also loved Radiantly Alive, also situated in Ubud town center, and offers over 60 inspiring and varied drop in yoga classes, meditations and workshops each week. They also offer retreats and yoga teacher trainings, healings and holistic therapies, but there’s no accommodation on site.
Radiantly Alive attracts world class famous yoga teachers who run workshops, intensives and teacher trainings and put some of their profits into helping the nearby local Sari Hati School. There’s a lovely cafe which serves super delicious and healthy food. The vibe here is really friendly and class sizes are alot smaller than The Yoga Barn which is why I preferred Radiantly Alive for my drop in yoga classes in Ubud.
