Ubud was for many years home to a number of hippie/artist expats, however, in more recent years has rapidly become a hub for yoga, meditation and living healthier lifestyles, especially after the popularity of ‘Eat Pray Love’.

Ubud is one of the best places in the world to do yoga teacher training and the Bali Spirit Festival is also held here in May.

Purana Boutique Resort
At Purana, you’ll experience your very own version of “Eat, Pray, Love.” On this private spiritual journey, you’ll work closely with a Balinese yoga teacher who will tailor the practices to your unique needs.
Each day starts with an energizing yoga practice, followed by a healthy breakfast. You’ll then embark on a Balinese adventure, such as a tour of the island’s holy temples, a visit to a healer, or a Balinese dance lesson.
The lavish resort is situated 10 minutes from Ubud in a tranquil haven surrounded by soothing nature. Here you will stay in a spacious private room with a spa bathroom and balcony, and you’ll have access to all the resort’s facilities, including the swimming pool and spa.

Ayurvedagram Bali
Ayurvedagram blends Balinese luxury with classical Ayurvedic wisdom. Their 100% personalized 6-day Ayurveda and wellness retreat is designed for anyone living with an autoimmune disorder.
The experience begins with a consultation with the Vaidya (Ayurvedic doctor), during which you can share any concerns or ailments you would like to address. The doctor will then create a tailor-made treatment plan, with 3 daily Ayurvedic treatments designed to rebuild your autoimmune system.
In addition, you’ll get one personalized yoga session and chakra meditation, as well as the opportunity to join the resort’s group yoga, pranayama, and meditation classes. In your free time, you can relax in the resort’s meditation garden, cool off in the pool, or join an excursion around the local area.

Adiwana Svarga Loka
This serene riverside resort makes for the perfect place to slow down, immerse yourself in nature, and reconnect within. The 6-day healing retreat combines daily 1-1 yoga sessions with Balinese massages and treatments, making it ideal for anyone looking for deep rest or emotional healing.
Other highlights of this private retreat include a consultation with an authentic Balinese healer and a 2-hour Balinese healing ritual. Throughout these 6 days, there is no doubt that you’ll experience first-hand the healing energy of Bali!
The resort is a short walk from Ubud center, and you’ll have plenty of time to explore the local sights. You’ll sleep in one of the resort’s stylish guestrooms, with a balcony overlooking the pool, river, or jungle.

The Yoga Barn
No mention of yoga retreats in Ubud would be complete without The Yoga Barn, one of the most famous Ubud yoga centers located on the outskirts of Ubud, in a peaceful spot close by the sacred monkey forest.
The Yoga Barn offers different yoga retreats hosted by a variety of teachers as well as a huge multitude of healing modalities and drop in yoga classes in an assortment of styles to suit any level of practice. There’s also a popular cafe and regular ecstatic dance parties that are held here.

Radiantly Alive
I also loved Radiantly Alive. It’s situated in Ubud town center and offers over 60 inspiring and varied drop in yoga classes, meditations and workshops each week. They also organise retreats and yoga teacher training programs, healings and holistic therapies – but there’s no accommodation on site.
Radiantly Alive attracts world class famous yoga teachers who run workshops, intensives and teacher trainings and put some of their profits into helping the nearby local Sari Hati School. There’s a lovely cafe which serves super delicious and healthy food.
The vibe here is really friendly and class sizes are alot smaller than The Yoga Barn which is why I preferred Radiantly Alive for my drop in yoga classes in Ubud.
