Ubud is one of the world’s ‘yoga and healing meccas,’ a small village tucked away inland on the island, surrounded by lush tropical jungle, rice terraces and sacred volcanoes in the distant horizon. Ubud is also home to many temples, the sacred monkey forests and has a huge raw vegan cafe scene.

Ubud was for many years home to a number of hippie/artist expats, however, in more recent years has rapidly become a hub for yoga, meditation and living healthier lifestyles, especially after the popularity of ‘Eat Pray Love’.

Ubud is one of the best places in the world to do yoga teacher training and the Bali Spirit Festival is also held here in May.

With the number of yoga retreats in Ubud that are popping up nowadays, it can be a bit confusing task trying to research and decide on which one is best for you!

I’ve spend alot of time trying out some of the best yoga studios in Ubud, and the rest of Bali, so I’ve put together the list below of the best Ubud yoga retreats to help you decide on a yoga retreat that best suits your needs.

Here’s my pick of the Best Yoga Retreats in Ubud, Bali:

Five Elements Puri Ahimsa

Five Elements Puri Ahimsa Retreat is an eco-center cross luxury resort, tucked away from the hustle about 25 minutes out of town and sitting alongside the beautiful Ayung River. Their holistic integrative approach is quite unique and different to your regular yoga retreats; here they offer something for all the senses.

There’s a huge range of detox and relaxation spa treatments, an absolutely delectably, gourmet plant-based raw menu served and many different styles of yoga and meditation classes (and other activities) to keep you moving and allow you to reconnect with yourself.

Rooms and facilities are a touch of luxury in harmony with the eco-sustainability vibe of the resort. Elements Puri Ahimsa Retreat is certainly one of the best luxury yoga retreats in Ubud.

The entire place is overflowing with a beautifully tranquil and positive vibes.  All rooms face outward to the picturesque rice fields, a refreshing view to wake up to every morning!

The Yoga Barn

No mention of yoga retreats in Ubud would be complete without The Yoga Barn, one of the most famous Ubud yoga centers located on the outskirts of Ubud, in a peaceful spot close by the sacred monkey forest.

The Yoga Barn offers different yoga retreats hosted by a variety of teachers as well as a huge multitude of healing modalities and drop in yoga classes in an assortment of styles to suit any level of practice. There’s also a popular cafe and regular ecstatic dance parties that are held here.

Radiantly Alive

I also loved Radiantly Alive, also situated in Ubud town center, and offers over 60 inspiring and varied drop in yoga classes, meditations and workshops each week. They also offer retreats and yoga teacher trainings, healings and holistic therapies, but there’s no accommodation on site.

Radiantly Alive attracts world class famous yoga teachers who run workshops, intensives and teacher trainings and put some of their profits into helping the nearby local Sari Hati School. There’s a lovely cafe which serves super delicious and healthy food.

The vibe here is really friendly and class sizes are alot smaller than The Yoga Barn which is why I preferred Radiantly Alive for my drop in yoga classes in Ubud.
