Even though I live in North Goa, when I want to take a holiday to relax and escape the parties, noise, traffic and crowds I head to South Goa. One of my favorite places to stay is in one of the beach huts in Agonda, one of the still peaceful, wild, jungly, natural and unspoilt beaches in Goa.
While you could stay in one of the many beach resorts in Goa, for me, the Agonda beach huts really make me feel like I’m at one with nature and can really relax in holiday mode – sandy bare feet, swinging in a hammock under the palm trees, watching the sunset over the sea, falling asleep to the sound of the waves and waking up to stunning sea views.
Not all Goa beach huts are equal though, they range from flimsy plywood shacks to luxury beach cottages complete with a hot tub, and as the standards have drastically improved over recent years, so have the prices.
So I thought it might be helpful to put together a quick post about my 5 favourite beach huts in Agonda and why I love this beach so much to help you if you’re also planning a trip to this paradise.

Why I Love Agonda Beach
Agonda beach is one of Goa’s most stunning beaches which, amazingly, is still quiet, with mostly low key development, and not crowded with tourists.
Nearby Palolem Beach is very popular and widely regarded as the most beautiful beach in all of Goa, but Agonda Beach has become more upmarket and more chilled out than Palolem.
The beach is larger and just as beautiful, there’s plenty of yoga retreats and it’s even designated as turtle nesting site so there’s no noisy nightclubs or jet skis.
If you can’t decide between them the two beaches don’t worry – they are not far away from each other so you can check both out. But if I have to choose just one to stay at for a relaxing escape it would certainly be Agonda.
For the best experience I would recommend to stay right on the beach front in one of the charming beach huts in Agonda where you can forget your shoes for a few days, wake up to beautiful beach views right from the comfort of your room, relax on your balcony with a cocktail watching the sunset and fall asleep to the sound of the waves.
How to Book a Beach Hut on Agonda Beach
Agonda, like the rest of Goa, has gone more popular and more upmarket in recent years, so it’s a good idea to book online, especially if you want to secure the best sea facing huts! Bear in mind that sometimes even though these resorts are right on the beach, not all of the beach huts will have a sea view, so make sure you check all the different rooms available.
Goa’s beach huts used to be dismantled every monsoon and change every season so it was a bit of gamble. Nowadays most operations are more professional and you can find beach huts on sites like Booking.com and Agoda. Being able to read reviews online saves you from making a mistake that could spoil your trip and booking in advance is essential as the best rooms are in high demand.
If you are on a tight budget you might be able to find a cheap guesthouse room back from the beach for about 1000 Rupees by walking around asking. However, these are becoming rarer and not possible to book online and the room will be basic – usually quite dark with hard beds, no AC or hot water, and questionable cleanliness.
Pin Me 🙂
Nowadays the beach huts are better built and more offer air conditioning, most do not have a swimming pool, but the ocean is never more than a few steps away. Parking can also be a problem in Agonda so check with the property if this is important to you.
The price of most decent beach huts in Agonda starts at 2,000 INR (approx £20/$25) per night and can go up to 10,000 INR plus for the most luxurious ones. If you are arriving in peak season (from Christmas till March) then I would recommend booking in advance to make sure you have somewhere to stay.
As prices change depending on dates I’ve added links to Booking.com so you can check the availability and prices for your dates, see photos, read reviews and book your stay. If you find my recommendations useful and want to book using the links I’ve provided then I can earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you, which helps to keep this site going so thank you! 🙂
The Best Agonda Beach Huts
Here’s my 5 favourite beach huts in Agonda to help you decide: I’ve put this tother from personal experience, recommendations from friends and reviews.
Agonda Villas
If you’re looking for a luxury beach cottage on Agonda beach this is my top pick.
Agonda Villas is situated in a small and peaceful beach front resort on serene and beautiful Agonda beach, it’s the perfect place for a romantic couples holiday or even a honeymoon.
The highlight of this resort is that every room here is complete with a hot tub on the sea view balcony!
There’s also a spacious, air conditioned and fully furnished bedroom with 42 inch LCD TV, fridge and minibar and a semi open air bathroom.
There’s also a great complimentary breakfast served in the on site restaurant – I loved the eggs royale with smoked salmon.
What could be more romantic than relaxing with your loved one in your private hot tub on your balcony watching the sunset over the sea?
There are only 11 cottages here and this place is deservedly popular, so book well in advance to experience this unique stay.

The Bay Agonda
The Bay is a new resort that has quickly become another one of my favourites. This resort is situated in a unique location on both the beach and backwaters at the quiet far north end of Agonda beach.
It’s a super serene spot offering jungle, beach and river vibes so you can relax on the beach, swim in the ocean and also go kayaking or take a boat trip along the backwaters.
The resort has two excellent restaurants and bars, including the unique Tree Top Tava restaurant that has stunning views over the jungle and sea.
They also offer yoga classes and a wide range of wellness programs and this is also one of the few resorts in Agonda that offers free parking.
All the rooms are spacious, air conditioned, clean and well equipped and have a private area for you to sit and relax outside the room. A highlight is the private open air bathrooms which provide a cool back to nature showering experience.
Choose from beach front sea view villas, a river facing cottages nestled in tropical greenery. Whichever you go for you’re surrounded by stunning nature and only ever a few steps away from the ocean so you’re sure to have an amazing time.
Agonda Beach Resort
The Agonda Beach Resort has lovely, clean, comfortable and stylish beach huts right on the beachfront in the middle of Agonda beach.
I like how the resort has a very natural feel as the huts are made from mostly natural materials and there’s plenty of tropical plants and greenery.
The resort is beautiful and peaceful, but you still get all the mod cons you need. I especially liked the open air bathrooms. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food in the beach shack restaurant is also good. What more do you need!?
Simrose
Simrose is a great option for all budgets, and the only one with a pool! This cute and laidback beachfront resort has a great restaurant and bar, friendly, helpful staff and a wide range of huts and room types.
It’s one of the only beach huts on Agonda Beach to have a small pool nestled in tropical greenery. They also have yoga classes, a spa, massages and plenty of comfy and colourful chill out areas.
There are various types of rooms and cottages to choose from, all with AC, private bathrooms and mosquito nets over the beds. The cheapest rooms are the oldest and aren’t the most inspiring, but if you just want somewhere to lay your head after a day on the beach it’s a comfortable and budget friendly option.
I think the standard garden bungalows are cute and good value for money, but the luxury front row sea facing huts are the best. There’s plenty of options so you can find the best room type for you.

Jardim a Mar
This is another good option for all budgets due to the wide range of rooms. Jardim a Mar is one of the longest running and most popular beach huts in Agonda and I have so many fond memories of this place as the staff were really friendly.
This beachfront beach hut resort is situated right in the middle of Agonda beach with the restaurant and a handful of huts enjoying amazing sea views. Their beach shack restaurant and bar is one of the best on the beach serving tasty Indian and international cuisine and a good range of cocktails as well as non alcoholic drinks in a laid back environment.
They offer a variety of well made beach huts and rooms to choose from that should suit every budget, from cheaper rooms at the back to sea facing premium wooden cottages. There is also a massage room onsite.
The beach huts and rooms are simple but cosy and clean and have decent beds (a rarity for budget accommodation in India!) and most have air conditioning too. Book early to get the sea front huts for the best experience.
